But the sun was rising

circumstantial evidence.
I tried brainstorming.
The seagulls catapulting
into the water. The mammals
chewing absently on their nubs.
The more specific the mammal
the more advanced the nub.
I once saw a moose take
a car and break it in half
just by standing there.
It was like the moose
was daring the trees to
do something new.
But the trees were
just trees and the moose
was just standing there.
So I took their advice.
